Quality of life mods

Seamless Co-op

The definitive way to play Elden Ring with friends: a true seamless co-op that removes the summon-sign restrictions of the base game.

Best for playing the whole game with friends start to finish.

Pause the Game

Exactly what it says — pause the action while exploring the Lands Between.

Best for anyone who's ever been killed by a doorbell.

Flawless Widescreen

Proper ultrawide support and display fixes for Elden Ring and other games.

Best for ultrawide owners tired of stretched HUDs and letterboxing.

Fix the Camera

Stops the camera from auto-recentering into awkward angles during fights.

Best for players who fight locked-on and hate losing the camera.

Elden Reshade – HDR FX

Subtle lighting tweaks that preserve the game's atmosphere while improving contrast and color.

Best for players who want richer color without losing the look.

Easy Mode for Elden Ring

A rebalance for accessibility: less incoming damage, more attack power — without changing the game's art or story.

Best for players who want the world without the wall.

New content

The Convergence

One of the two giant content overhauls — new areas, bosses, weapons and spells layered over the base game.

Best for veterans who have beaten the base game and want somewhere new.

Elden Ring Reforged

The other major overhaul, with a heavier focus on combat and boss design changes.

Best for players who want bosses and combat reworked, not just added.

Just for fun

Ranni Skin for Tarnished

Play as everyone's favourite witch in the Lands Between.

Best for Ranni fans who want to cosplay the best ending.

Night's Cavalry Horse Replacement

Swap Torrent for the Night's Cavalry's spectral steed.

Best for players who want a more intimidating mount.

Cat Ears

Replace wolf helms with cat ears and give your Tarnished a very different vibe.

Best for a second playthrough when you've earned some silliness.

Getting started

Elden Ring modding has one extra step most games don't need — the anti-cheat:

  1. Install Vortex (the Nexus Mods manager) and point it at Elden Ring.
  2. Read each mod's install instructions — most mods ship as folders you merge into the game directory, and Vortex handles this for many of them.
  3. Deal with EasyAntiCheat. Elden Ring runs EasyAntiCheat, which can block modded files. Launch the game offline or via each mod's own launcher as its page instructs.
  4. Play, then restart clean before touching online features — modded files and online play don't mix.

Need the game first? Compare Elden Ring key prices, then mod it to your liking.

How we picked these mods

Every mod on this list is free, works with the current version of Elden Ring, and comes from well-regarded Nexus Mods projects that keep showing up in the community's "essential mods" discussions. We don't take sponsored or paid placements — and if a pick stops being maintained or breaks on a future update, we'll drop it from the list.

FAQ

Are these mods really free?

Yes. All of them are free downloads from Nexus Mods. Nexus offers an optional paid membership for faster downloads, but no mod on this list requires it.

Will mods get me banned?

EasyAntiCheat is the risk. If you launch a modded game in online mode the anti-cheat can block the mod or flag your session. Play with mods offline — most mods either force offline or include their own launcher for it.

Does Seamless Co-op work online?

Seamless Co-op runs its own private co-op sessions between players with the same mod setup — it doesn't use the regular online matchmaking, so it stays outside the anti-cheat loop when both sides follow the mod's instructions.

Can mods break my game or my save?

Mods change game files, and a bad combination can cause crashes. Install through Vortex, keep your mods updated, and back up your saves before large installs. Keep a clean (unmodded) game state in mind for online play.
